Summer Camp Innovation at the MSiC

Camp Innovation, MSiC's edu-camp for rising 4th - 9th graders, is now open for registration.  Camp classes will be offered for the first time at John Tyler Community College!

This year's camp will run:

•  July 13-31 at the MSiC campus
• July 20-31 at the John Tyler Community College Chester Campus
• Aug 3-14 at the John Tyler Community College Midlothian Campus.  

The "Extended Day" Program is back! Classes from Champtionship Chess RVA and Edible Education are available at MSiC campus and run from 4:15pm-5:30pm.  Additional information is available at: http://mymsic.org/en/

William & Mary's Center for Gifted Education will be having its annual Summer

Mastering content is not sufficient for the 21^st Century job market.  In addition to content knowledge, our nation’s top employers desire a workforce that is equipped with creative, critical thinking, and problem solving skills.  These traits are not necessarily innate natural abilities.  Rather, they are learned competencies that require systematic training and development. 

This session will focus on the skills and dispositions found in creative experts and will provide guidance on ensuring an environment conducive to creative development for your child.  The session also will discuss the development of creative expertise within academic and artistic domains.

CHMS Students Participate in the "You Be The Chemist Challenge" at the MSiC

On Saturday, March 21, six CHMS students participated in the You Be The Chemist Challenge at the Math Science Innovation Center.  This local competition is part of a national academic contest that encourages students in grades 5-8 to explore important chemistry and STEM concepts and their real-world applications.  Raymond Drewry, Krystal Rubio, Lyndsay Corrigan, Tess Synowski, Julia Spaine, and Jenna Beville represented the school well, all advancing to the second round of competition.  Lyndsay Corrigan will compete at the State Challenge in Suffolk on April 25.

Crime Scene Investigation Summer Camp

Step into the shoes of a Crime Scene Investigator at the Crime Museum’s CSI Camps in DC! Campers will learn to process a crime scene by working hands-on to gather evidence in the murder of Fred Lawe. Working together as a Crime Scene Unit, they’ll take crime scene photographs and search for evidence.
